“Dearest”: An Open Letter To My Soulmate
Written by: Kenn Edward Tenorio
You may not know this yet, but I am the one for you. You have mustered laughs without the knowledge that somewhere out there, I have been saving smiles for you. Your eyes have seen the sunset, while I’ve hovered by the horizon as my heart bled that pinkish orange glow, that mesmerizing sunset color. Your ears have heard music, and I’ve been spilling ink, crumpling up papers, bruising my fingers while writing the lyrics. And your feet have walked on these grounds, unaware that they were dancing with my footsteps.
You may not know this yet, but you are the one for me. When I wake up in the morning, it is your good mornings that I want to listen to. And when it’s time for bed, it is your goodnights that I want to fall asleep to. Your hands are the hands that hold me when I’m cold, and the same hands that clap for me when I’m happy. Your arms are the arms that embrace me when I’m right, and the same arms that shelter me when I’m wrong. Your lips are the lips that kiss me on a warm summer Saturday night, and the same lips that whisper I Love You on a rainy autumn Sunday morning.
